Patient Feedback From L&D OSU Hospital Tour with Sandra
A few notes from our 12/20/25 tour:
-Sandra was kind but seemed disorganized, didn't introduce herself, was confused about important details (didn't know open/closing hours), repeatedly asked the group personal questions regarding health history/C-section plans/gestational diabetes status/etc., gave inaccurate information regarding policy (stated that patients are to remain NPO even for normal labor/deliveries), did not know policy around birthing tubs or other common physiological birth preferences
-When a member of the tour passed out in the L/D room due to it being almost 80 degrees, Sandra didn't offer to move the group out of the room, turn down the heat, or support him but instead stood there quietly and kept bringing it up throughout the remainder of the tour
-Openly violated HIPAA protocol by asking us to look at a patient's board even though it had identifying info about parents, health status, preferences, and baby. Told us to just ignore the PII.
-Recommended not looking at the placenta as it's "yucky"
We left wishing Sandra had focused more on simply showing us the facilities. She would've been better of deferring some of the policy/protocol-related questions to our care team rather than trying to answer them and giving partial or incorrect information.

Average tour with sick tour guide
It was a slow and stressful experience knowing how visibly sick our tour guide was. She had us pack into elevators and underwhelmingly small maternity rooms constantly while she took her mask off and touched her nose. The tour felt extra dragged out and slow because the person was sick. If you are going to be walking around a maternity ward with 7 imminocompromised very pregnant women and their partners please cancel, reschedule or get someone else. I expect more from OSU and their "high standards" and they never fail to dissapoint. Also disappointing that day of delivery there is no free valet parking? Have your babies at Riverside.
